Overall Purpose:

We require a commercially focussed Assistant Engineering Manager with excellent leadership, managerial and communication skills required to lead and develop our customer driven regional office in Manchester which covers the North West. Candidates must possess a relevant Engineering and/or Electrical/Mechanical qualification.

Previous experience of leading a team and customer relationship management within a service sector environment is essential.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical (Engineering) knowledge and previous repair/ modernisation management experience.

Main responsibilities will be the management of repairs/modernisation from enquiry through to completion including:

  • Initial site surveys
  • Detailing and issuing quotations
  • Ordering of equipment and subcontractors
  • Planning and scheduling of labour
  • Quality and Health and Safety
  • Maximising and generating repair sales
  • Liaise with customers to ensure client satisfaction and manage customer expectations

The candidate must be fully IT literate with experience of quoting and processing repairs through a full cycle to completion. A full driving licence is also essential.

Develop, guide, direct, motivate and manage the performance of all direct reports in line with the Performance Management System to assist in the realization of their potential and to enhance their knowledge-based skills.

Provide a hands on leadership style, responsible for creating a customer focused culture that is based on delivering results, transparency and trust, whilst building organizational capability and empowerment.

Analyse the training requirements of employees within the area managed, and arrange for relevant training to take place.

Operational

Develop, implement and communicate improved processes, policies and procedures on a continuous basis, always seeking greater efficiencies and higher customer satisfaction.

Maximize communication and synergy between the business Leaders.

Organise and attend regular staff meetings, using them as a basis for the development of consistent standards in quality working and behaviour.

Authority

Authorised to take any decisions on maintenance activities performed on site if the same is in line with the company & site policies & Procedures.

To take any decisions on executing the Preventive maintenance, Corrective maintenance, Reactive maintenance to achieve the set targets and contractual KPI’s


In addition to the above, the post-holder will also be required to undertake additional duties as appropriate to the nature and level of the role.

Salary: £13.00ph (39hrs) plus overtime

Location: Yorkshire

 

 

Please Note: A minimum of NVQ level 2 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering and Refrigeration experience is a must for this role. Hydraulics, Pneumatics and Diesel experiences would also be required.

 

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The purpose of this position is to ensure all Light Commercial refrigerated vehicles are repaired to an excellent standard using safe working practices and where possible at the first attendance.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Servicing and repair of vehicle powered (diesel engine) road transport refrigeration units
  • Optimise and maintain engineer van stock to maintain and enhance service delivery to our customers.
  • Ensure relevant safety checks are carried out on the company van on a daily basis.
  • Maintain product and customer requirements knowledge to meet ISO9002 standards at all times.
  • Undertaking company training and self-development through the Certi-Tech certification process.
  • To liaise with central control and/or the service centre with regard to job start and completion times, downtime and overtime authorisation; cost updates and customer purchase orders.
  • Complete all relevant paperwork and on-line (PDA) requirements enabling central control and invoicing to maintain a high standard of customer interface – keeping the customer informed.
  • Perform other duties and projects which correspond to the general character of the position.
  • Ensure adherence to company procedures in line with company policies, Health & safety procedures and ISO9002 standards.
  • Apprentices and or engineers in training (EIT) may be supervised where applicable.
  • Ensure customer service is a priority and conduct & corporate image (self, van, tools, spares) are first rate
  • Ensure you operate the company vehicle in a safe manner and carry out regularly driver checks
  • Become a trusted member of the team by working with minimal day to day supervision
  • Incorporate a flexible approach to working hours to meet customer needs/requirements
  • The ability to follow company health and safety guidelines whilst working on various sites.

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Desirable - GCSE’s in Mathematics and English,
  • F-Gas 2079, electrical and mechanical certificates

 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Essential – Mechanical and/or Refrigeration experience, ability to work with minimal day to day supervision, computer literate, excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Desirable – Experience of working in a mechanical environment, ability to read wiring diagrams

Duties & Responsibilities

  • To service and repair hire equipment and vehicles in accordance with Company and Manufacturers Service Schedules
  • Carry out scheduled Service Inspections and servicing on vehicles and plant in compliance with all Company Policies and Procedures.
  • To diagnose faults and carry out mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and any other repairs on vehicles and plant.
  • To carry out all tasks in compliance with the Company’s Environmental and Health and Safety Procedures ensuring that your workplace, including site work and roadside are safe for you to carry out the work required and that you have taken the necessary precautions to ensure your safety and that of others affected by your actions.
  • To complete Maintenance Records and Reports accurately and on time.
  • To conduct all activities in accordance with Company Policy and Procedures.

Overall Purpose:

 

The main purpose of the role is to carry out Road Cleansing operations work as directed, using an HGV2 Class Road Sweeper, for which you hold an appropriate licence, in a safe and responsible manner and in compliance with the Company’s and the Client’s safety procedures.

  • To carry out road cleansing operations duties as assigned by your Line Manager or the Depot Manager e.g. road cleansing
  • To carry out dust suppression works as and when required
  • To provide details of 'engine hours worked information'
  • To undertake maintenance of  fleet vehicles as qualified and directed
  • To maintain the cab of any vehicle used in a clean and tidy condition
  • Act as an ambassador for the Company at all times, being courteous to Clients and other road users
  • To notify the Company of any incidents that may impact on the status of your driving licence
  • Any other duties as may reasonably be requested from time to time.
  • To report any defect in vehicles and plant and monitor safety performance
  • To use any designated Personal Protective Equipment at all times as directed and to maintain it in accordance with the instructions provided.

Essential Skills:

  • HGV class 2 licence
  • Driver CPC card
  • Polite and customer focused, with a 'can do' attitude

 

Desired Skills:

  • Fully conversant with the safe operation (and where appropriate, the maintenance requirements) of the plant used in the role
  • Aware of the appropriate safety procedures and attentive to risk at all times
  • Ability to check machinery
  • A team player who looks out for the members of the team as well as themselves
