Overall Purpose:

 

What is the role?

Reporting to the Service & Operations Director, you will form part of the project delivery team, whereby you will be responsible for the hands on execution of switchgear support services on site. You will partake in activities such as the maintenance, repair and servicing of LV/HV Switchgear. It is therefore essential that the candidate is flexible and willing to travel, as this role involves travelling to sites across the UK

Your responsibilities

  • Delivering site-based engineering support in line with the Company's service portfolio.
  • Ability to work both independently as well as part of a larger engineering team.
  • Demonstrate excellent electrical fault finding and rectifications skills, along with good commercial awareness skills to provide top level customer service and technical support.
  • Providing on-site or remote technical support to both colleagues and customers as and when required.
  • Ensuring efficient, successful delivery of all assigned projects on time and to the highest standards, in line with company policies and customer expectations.
  • Complete all paperwork including reports, timesheets and expense claims in a timely and accurate manner to support the efficient processing of invoices.
  • Creating and maintaining strong relationships with customers, understanding their needs and providing specialist support and solutions.
  • Ensure that issues and risks are escalated to Management to allow adequate investigation and resolution.
  • Work swiftly and competently under pressure, ensuring that work is completed to the highest standards within the timeframes provided.
  • Ensuring risk assessments and method statements are correct for the work involved and signed by all involved.
  • Work pro-actively to spot and identify additional opportunities for the business whilst on site.
  • Travel and work at site outside of regular office hours as and when required.

Principal Accountabilities
Working on HV/LV, Transformers, Switchgear and Associated Equipment.

  • Carrying out service / remedial works on Equipment.
  • Able to write up detailed quality reports, daily site reports and such.
  • Carry out electrical testing and fault finding.
  • Carry out routine PPM (planned preventive maintenance) to a manufacturer’s standard.
  • Be proactive in reporting faults to equipment,
  • Ability to test LV protection and type up accurate reports of results.
  • Install HV/LV panels and transformers to manufacturers standard.

The Person Qualifications

NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) Electrical Engineering

Knowledge & Experience

  • A thorough Understanding of Electrical Power System
  • Good Transformer knowledge and understanding

Skills & Personal Qualities

  • Have operational experience as a HV Electrical Fitter.
  • Be able to prioritise workload
  • Ensure work is to a high standard when working on client sites.
  • Work well as part of a team
  • Must be eligible for SC /CTC clearance and DBS Check.
  • Full UK Driving Licence

What are we looking for?

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent people skills and have a strong background in electrical engineering, with at least 4+ years’ experience within a switchgear service engineering role, carrying out maintenance and repair of LV and MV/HV switchgear up to 11Kv.

Full UK Driver’s License is essential.

We require someone with the ability to work swiftly and competently under pressure, ensuring that work is completed to the highest standards within the timeframes provided. The candidate should show a willingness to continue developing their skills set across different service functions. They should be solutions orientated, positive and proactive in their day-to-day tasks, maximising their time to ensure they are contributing to billable work streams as much as possible.
