Post Title: Field Service Engineer (Mechanical)

Salary: £16.00ph - £18.00ph (£37k - £42k) depending on experience, plus paid overtime

We are growing and expanding our service support across the Untied Kingdom to continue to help serve our customers and the wider material handling industry by responding and delivering solutions. Our service function is key to our business success and we are looking to add skilled team members as we expand our service network. We continually invest in our team members by providing ongoing technical training to develop your skills and grow our business. We are recruiting for a diversely talented and highly experienced mobile technician ready to build our network, grow and sustain our success. 

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2 + years’ experience in heavy equipment
  • High school diploma or BTEC Level 3 – 4
  • 2+ years’ experience in a field service position

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
  • Background in mechanics & hydraulics
  • Experience with utility-type equipment
  • Experience in fluid power.
  • Extensive knowledge of Terex Products: e.g Powerscreen, Terex Mineral Processing & Terex Washing Systems.
  • Requires own hand tools (we provide power tools and generator) Basic computer skills

 

Work Environment Considerations:

  • Must be willing to work varied hours, including the ability to work evenings and weekends if required.

 

Physical Requirements of the Job

  • Physical requirements of the job are classified as medium to heavy. Physical demand requirements are in excess of light work. Medium to heavy work is defined as:
  • 10 to 40 pounds of force frequently, may include pushing, pulling and lifting
  • 40 to 100 pounds of force occasionally with assistance of machinery or others to move objects. Ability to stand on concrete for 10+ hours per shift
  • Must be comfortable with working at heights too.

 

Qualifications

The post holder must have a genuine interest in people and a focus on continuous improvement. The post holder must be self-motivated, be able to work flexibly and under pressure in a dynamic and changing environment.

  • High school graduate and /or mechanical NVQ/BTEC equivalent
  • This position will require a valid driver’s license
  • The ability to pass a touchscreen Safety, Health & Environmental test
  • 1+ or more years’ experience working with electrical, engine and hydraulic components and machines; other related technical experience may be substituted.

  • CSCS (desirable)
  • SSP (desirable)
  • MPQC (desirable)
  • IPAF (desirable)
  • CPCS (desirable)
  • Other plant certification

 

Experience (Knowledge, Skills and Attributes)

  • Time management skills - prioritising accordingly.
  • IT knowledge, especially Microsoft word
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable talking to people – good communication
  • Ability to understand the nature of a client’s request through effective questioning and listening skills.
  • Good understanding of Safety, Health, Environmental policy, and legal requirements
  • Construction environment (desirable)
  • Recycling environment (desirable)
  • Production knowledge (desirable)
  • Quarrying processing (desirable)
  • Milling environment(desirable)

 

Health & Safety Responsibilities

  • Follow Company policies and procedures always;
  • Follow set company procedure (9001, 45001, 14001)
  • Support the company objects set each year
  • Report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment provided that may result in failure of service delivery or risk to health and safety or the environment;
  • Safety, Health, Environment & Quality will be the fourth front of all activities eliminating risk to the business and the people it will impact.
  • CDM 2015 Regulation must be applied to all projects /activities.
  • Use all work equipment and personal PPE properly and in accordance with training and company policies and procedures.
  • Report any issues or training needs to your Line manager
  • Meet all company environmental targets and obligations
